Tisza Cinema Ltd has been formed in January 1990. The director of the company is Istvan Ferenc Demeter. He has bought the well - positioned cinema in 1996, renovated it numerous times, modernized the building, and supplied it with the latest digital technology. There are 3 screening venues. Room "A" has 133 seats, Room "B" has 38, and room "E" is equipped with 30 seats. Tisza Cinema has been dedicated to film education, forming film clubs and small communities. It organizes clubs, trainings, programs to the young audience taking their age into consideration.
In the café of the cinema there are fine art exhibitions, book presentations regularly and those cultural and public events which supplement the cultural life of Szolnok. The terrace of the café - called Muse's Square next to the cinema - gives place to free outdoor screenings, literature and gastronomic events and other cultural programs.The biggest event of the cinema is the international Alexandre Trauner ART/Film Festival.
The roots of the film festivals in Szolnok date back to 1969 in our city. Since 1998 Tisza Cinema Ltd has been organizing the film event, which became international since 2000, exchanging the topic of fine art and science.
In 2018 the festival with its unique theme got a new swing that is has been renamed by the Oscar- winner, Hungarian born production designer, Alexandre Trauner and became the film festival of production designers.
The program of the film festival has been supplemented with a European Feature Film category in which the jury remunerates the production design and designers of the films. Besides the film screenings the organizers broaden the program of the event year by year. In the partner programs of the festival there are fine art exhibitions, book presentations, concerts, roundtable discussions, masterclasses held by international film professionals, events of universities and many cultural and gastronomic events.
Our festival's aim is to be one of the forums of the art and scientific life and an international film event where the students and teachers of the Central-European universities can meet, exchange ideas and supplement their knowledge.
